So you want an iPhone but your either don’t have the time to run up to the Apple or AT&T store or you’re just are too lazy? When the phone was first launched, delivery for online orders were expected within 2-4 weeks. Now if you order from Apple’s online store, your new phone can be shipped in just 24 hours. If you don’t feel like getting bugged by Apple or AT&T employees, simply order online and get free 24 hour delivery!
Sphere: Related ContentA very popular game, Bejweled, from PopCap has been recently ported to the iPhone. The special web version is playable on both Safari and the iPhone. You can get your game on by simply visiting Popcap.com on the iPhone and be redirected to http://static.popcap.com/iphone, an iPhone specific url.
Sphere: Related ContentJust a few days ago, one of the guys from iPhoneology was browsing through the iPhone’s firmware and noticed what seems to be references unused widgets. These entries were found in the system preference file “Default ApplicationState.plist”. (see screenshot below)
The most interesting entry is the reference to some sort of mobile radio. The entry suggests that Apple may be planning on adding support for streaming radio or possibly in the future an FM tuner. So far, no icons or application binaries have been found which correspond to the “missing” apps. We will just have to wait and see what future iPhone software updates have in store for us.

Sphere: Related ContentAn australian hacker, known by the handle ‘ozbimmer’, has partially unlocked his iPhone to make calls on the Telstra network. It’s functionality is limited to simply making calls, text messaging can not be sent or recieved. He had gone as far as posting a video of the process on YouTube, which has been taken down.
Instructions can still be found in the hackint0sh forum. For this partial unlock, a SIM card reader/writer and software would be needed for this hack to create a SIM with information from both AT&T and Telstra cards.

Sphere: Related ContentA source from inside the Apple Store has informed that the free iPhones which were promised to all Apple employees have begun to appear. You would have thought they would have gotten them a little sooner, but who is going to complain when you’re getting a free iPhone? I’m sure AT&T employees are jealous, seeing that they receive no discounts on the iPhone or its plans.
Sphere: Related ContentMaybe you didn’t notice, but the iPhone can tell you a caller’s physical location. Based on the area code of the incoming number, the phone can determine the physical location of the caller. If you go to the Recents calls option, search through your outgoing, incoming, and missed calls. When you find a number you are curious where the call is being made from, simply tap the blue arrow to display the info page for the number. Below the number should be the physical location of the caller.

Currently item searches are unavailable, but you can still track and monitor your watch list. This could be very useful to keep a close eye on auctions that are soon to close. The app just launched this week and i’m sure that there are plenty more options and features to come.
Sphere: Related ContentGoogle has silently launched a search page specifically optimized for the Apple iPhone. Of course the standard google search page isn’t exactly crowded, it could be displayed a little better. There isn’t any new features, its just optimized for better viewing on the iPhone. You can still do your basic web, news, image searches with the new Google iPhone search. The site can be accessed at http://www.google.com/uds/samples/iphone/isearch.html.
Sphere: Related ContentDevelopments of hacking the Apple iPhone has led to a backround application srelay, a SOCKS proxy server. This nifty application has opened the door to get the iPhone’s EDGE connection through a laptop or Wi-Fi enabled device. As a warning to all, access of the EDGE services or even modifying the handset to enable such a service may be against your AT&T terms of service. Currently there are instructions available for Windows users which can be accessed here.
